The Arriva Group
The Arriva group operates locally managed businesses across the UK and mainland Europe, providing predominantly bus and train services, but also coach, tram, water bus, bike-sharing, and on-demand transport services.
The Arriva Group has four core business units: UK Bus, UK Trains, The Netherlands and Mainland Europe. Our local teams take huge pride in delivering great services to passengers every day and to being a trusted partners to our clients, delivering on a joint ambition for passenger transport to play a vital role in tackling some of the great challenges of our day, including climate change.
UK Bus
We are the third-largest provider of bus services in regional markets (outside London) with rural, urban and inter-urban services.
We have 13,100 colleagues and operate 3,856 buses.
We are one of the market leaders in London, where we operate around 17% of all bus services operating in London, and we were the first company to operate an all-electric bus route.
We were also one of the first companies to introduce digital demand-responsive transport services to the UK.

UK Trains
We operate under a range of different contract types currently in use on Britain’s railway, including national rail contracts, a concessionary contract and an open access rail company. Arriva also supports the critical maintenance of rolling stock through Arriva Train Care and provides rail replacement services through Arriva Road Transport Solutions. It also owns a digital smart ticketing platform, Arriva Customer Engine.
We have 5,270 colleagues and 284 trains. We also manage 117 stations.
Having first entered the market in 2000, we now cover around 9% of the entire network (by total revenue).
We have a diverse portfolio including light rail, commuter transport, regional and long-distance, and we operate right across Great Britain.

The Netherlands
We entered the Dutch transport market in the late 1990s and we are now the country’s largest private rail operator with 76 per cent of the liberalised market. We are the second largest private operator of electric buses, with an ambition to be net-zero by the end of 2025. We operate tendered regional rail, bus and multimodal contracts (bus and rail) as well as touring bus services.
We have 4,780 colleagues working in The Netherlands and operate a fleet of 1,115 buses, 175 trains and around 60 coaches.
